Genesis of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bellary
The need for a Kendriya Vidyalaya in the city of Bellary was a long-felt one, especially for the employees of the central and state government of the city. K.V Bellary came into existence to make their dream come true in November 1986. The initiative and untiring efforts of the then Dy. Comm. of Bellary Shri. Sudhir Kumar, I.A.S., officials of BSNL, Bellary were responsible for relisation of the dream to establish K. V. Bellary. It started as a one section school upto class V with a student strength of 105 functioning in a private building rented by P.T.A. of the school and grew to a three section school upto class 10 and one section each in class XI and XII in a span of 22yrs, with a student strength of about 1170 and staff strength of 55. This KV is now housed in its own building which stands majestically in Bandihatti Road, Bellary in an area of 10 acres of land. For acquisition of this land too the parents and students of K.V. Bellary are indebted to Shri. Sudhir Kumar, I.A.S. who had to cross many hurdles to achieve this.
It is a matter of pride that Shri. Sudhir Kumar, I.A.S served as the First Chairman of the Vidyalaya, Management Committee of K.V. Bellary and his son was the first student admitted to this K.V. Mr. R. Seshadri had the privilege of serving as the first Principal of this Vidyalaya.
